so my plan is to write this pre-december december blog and then write another one mid-december. i've been super busy, playing with tons of artists, miranda frigon, gig with pete hopkins (from StarTomorrow) coming up, another Duff gig, just did a show with Myron from Buffalo with some heavy players and played with Grandville the same night. the long awaited Latham album, sophomore, is finally out and we had an awesum CD release party @ MBar to celebrate with 100 friends. theSyrups actually have some December gigs scheduled believe it or not, and Jeff Clayman has another one @ Molly's in December. crazy month i tell you what.

theMcCools just went to AdamPike's studio in Pasadena and cut 11 songs in 4 hours, it was pretty much live, we had a couple fixes here and there but hey, we wanted something live with decent sound quality, some of the songs are posted here on our PureVolume Site, i could only fit like 4 tunes on there though. we've got the songs we wrote for our superfans on there....Crazy Lee, Marley, and Pretzel Girl (salina), maybe we'll have a holiday EP for sale or somethin?

just one show in october with theMcCools.
speaking of theMcCools, we had 4 great shows in September.
We'll be at TAIX on October 19th playing tunes that we wrote for Marley, Salina, and Lisa because these 3 rad ladies came to all 4 of our shows and they brought friends. not to mention the other great supporters of the band that were in attendance at most of the shows- it was a blast! we are planning on starting at Residency at Crane's in hollywood in January. we've also been pitched to some TV, Film, and Commercial avenues, so you may hear us in TV's and Silver Screens across the country:)

the beginning of November marks the long-awaited release of Latham's 2nd album, called Sophomore. our CD release party is Friday, Nov3rd @ MBar - click here for tix and details.

i'll be playing with Grandville in Vegas @ Mandalay Bay-House of Blues and at MollyMalone's - check out the GRANDVILLE MYSPACE - which i designed:)

i've got multiple gigs coming up with Analog In. a show with jeff clayman.

we're going to record at some of the shows so we'll give you a free copy of the live CD before it's available for digital download (at a price).

we are playing 2 acoustic shows...one at theStone in Hollywood on Thursday September 28th.click here for directions and info about the stone.
we are also back and acoustic at CRane's in hollywood on Saturday, Sept.9th.

All of the shows are FREE except the show at the Stone, where we get paid from your paying a small nominal fee for us at the door:) this will be the 1st time we've had a non-free show, but since the cover goes to the musicians, not the promoter, we support it!

Taix (say it like "Tex" despite the obvious temptation of "Tay") is a sprawling, vintage tudor restaurant and bar. There are private rooms, stone fireplaces, stained glass windows and valet parkers.

The sign on Sunset in Echo Park. Taix has been at this location since 1962; it first opened in downtown LA in 1927.

Valley Heat....
it's a very hot summer in the SanFernando Valley, thanks to the surrounding mountains and good old global warming. We (theMcCools) played a show at Crane's tavern in hollywood on July 15th. so many wonderful people in the audience :) thanks to everyone for the support (Pete for being roadie, Erica and Tom for the photos, Marley for rallying the troops, Ian for the tips, and everysingle last one of you goshdarnit!).

we played....Stole My heart, Enchanted, Everytime, Make Up Make Out, Hat, Who KNows, Universe, Quitter, Carving, Accessory, and She Didn't Want.

we hadn't played stole my heart or Universe in a while and it was the debut of "Carving" which will be on our EP (along with She Didnt' Want, MakeUp MakeOut, and some other surprises) coming out in a couple of months.

i'll be playing with Grandville at the HouseOfBlues in Vegas in August, Grandville is also going into the studio very soon to cut 6 new tracks. August will also see me on the stage with Analog In. and God willing, before the year is up to see Latham's "sophmore" album finished and released.

theTour from last month.....
As you know, if you read this blog frequently, and or, last month, i just got done touring with the band AnalogIn in central and northern California and also Oregon and Nevada...12 shows in 10days...it was a blast. We did a couple of CD-release parties in Los Angeles for the new AnalogIn album, Measurable Days, which has already been on the radio on 'Breakfast with the Beatles', check out the AnalogIn myspace for more details. pictures of LA shows coming soon.

I have a guitar Instructional WebSite devoted to some very important information that i didn't get starting out on guitar, so i have this "No Guitarist Left Behind" crusade. if you or anyone you know is in the area and interested in taking lessons, check it out.

Sacred Heart Show - Jan28th and what's new

So, 3 of the bands that i am in, theMcCools, Latham, and Grandville played at Sacred Heart in La Canada this past saturday! what a pleasure to play for a great crowd...so i had to share some photos and such...if any other schools, like LaSalle, or others are interested in having us play, just contact us and we'll get somethin going. we hope to return soon to the Sacred Heart Academy for another acoustic lunch. we filmed a Live DVD and recorded the audio thru a huge 17 channel mixer. we'll keep you posted on this stuff...theMcCools' Plan A Cd will be available on line in a matter of days; i just did all the paperwork and now have to mail in the actual CD's...they will also be on iTunes soon:) I've got some shows coming up with Grandville and Latham. TheMcCools go on at 10pm and the StarFuckers go on soon after. theCatClub is at 8911 Sunset Bl. 90069. Right next to the Whiskey a go-go (a place that used to have a sense of integrity:))

here's some info i downloaded about the StarF**kers.
Their lead singer has done a lot of stuff, but most notebly, he was in Guns n Roses.

INFO ON THE STARF**KERS...
"The Starfuckers, yes, you read that right. Their line up changes here and there due to the fact this band is made up of some rocks greatest, and of course each one of them has to hit the road with their other bands.

The core band consists of Gilby Clarke, of course, on lead vocals and guitar. On the lead guitar is either Tracii Guns (L.A. Guns) or Yogi Lonich (BuckCherry). On bass guitar is either Stefan Adika (Glamnation) or Johnny Blackout (Slash's Snakepit), and on drums is Slim Jim Phantom (Stray Cats). Gilby definitely is one the guitar greats, but to see him play alongside a virtuoso like Tracii or young gun guitar slinger Yogi, just adds to the excitement. Then you in that raw rock New York presence of bassist and singer Stefan or the rhythmic mastery of Johnny, make it even more the rock pleasure. And to bring it all together is the legendary rockabilly great, Slim Jim on drums.

There is a reason these stars all perform with Gilby, because just like him, they will not hesitate to talk to you in a heartbeat. Gilby Clarke and his Starfucker buddies are always a guaranteed good time. Heck, they may even play one of your requests to boot."

Battle of the Bands

Latham Rocks (or so the 103.1 fm judges say...)
last night, i played at BBkings with lathamrocks. www.lathamrocks.com
we battled for round 1 in a 3 round single elimination competition to play at BBkings in Memphis, Tn among other amazing prizes which i cannot disclose at this point. We had a blast playing there. the judges, whom i met at the end of the night had some very nice things to say about our talent and comradere. it was a good time! i have a gig with the syrups this saturday and some more gigs, including round 2 of the battle of the bands coming up...check out www.myspace.com/themccools, for details.

so, after about a year heiatus (wow, how do you spell that? maybe i should just say sobbatical [is that spelled right]) i'm back in Music Connection, LA's industry mag for music. i'd been in there with thesyrups (www.thesyrups.com before [being reviewed and then for album release]). this time it's with Grandville, a band that i'm in with Robb Vallier....

Robb/Grandville-if you look up Robb Vallier on the internet you'll find some album credits, because he's also a producer and a darn good one at that...in the studios he's worked with the likes of Brian Adams, Brad Fernquist (guitar for Michelle Branch, Fastball, and New Radicals), and of course the guys who fill in on percussion with us most often (Erik [who plays for lowmillions www.lowmillions.com, which is fronted by the son of famous poet Leonard Cohen) and Joe (www.joetravers.com) who toured with DuranDuran and plays with LisaLoeb.
I hooked up with Robb about a year ago; he approached me after he saw me playing with theMcCools (www.toddmccool.com and www.myspace.com/themccools) and Anthony Cunico. Robb is an outstanding musician, writer, producer, and engineer, and i am honored to be playing with him...you can find his studio at www.rumpusroom.com .

-the first of which was at Gengis Cohen for Eva's birthday party, afterwhich we had a killer SlapBack! (you know, that game where 1 person put their hands underneath someone else's and then tries to smack the top of that other person's hands) tournament, won by jennifer vazquez www.jennifervazquez.com - special thanx to Tom "the throbber" Bognar (www.tombognar.com) and Jessica Hall (www.mediumsweetness.blogspot.com) some guest officiating. anyways

so they say....everybody's getting on this thing. it's an epidemic. okay, but beware of all the bands and "models" that just want to advertise themselves. if they are your 'friend' they can post all kinds of bulletins on your site that YOU can't erase. but other than that, it's a blast, chose your friends carefully and pretend you are a musician so you can put music on your site. oh yea, and add me as your friend :)

in studio news, i've been recording some synth parts on the PlanA album. pet peeves of the day...extremely cold air conditioning. favorite things of the day - ii-V7-Imaj7 turnarounds. yep. and i need to vacuum. playing with the syrups 2morow and then latham on monday, then the syrups at the end of the month. tentatively planning on performing with Grandville in Feb and maybe the McCools. Grandville was reviewed in Music Connection - it was a great review, so pic one up at your local newstand and go to page 50, or go to www.musicconnection.com - when the current issue is updated to say Jan17-Jan 31, look up club reviews and look at the Grandville review.

Happy New Year! this is the year you're gonna follow through on all of your resolutions (if you send me some money that is!). i have some gigs this month, Friday, Jan 14 @ Genghis Cohen in Hollywood with Latham Rocks (http://www.lathamrocks.com) and then again on Monday, Jan 24 @ BBKings for a BATTLE OF THE BANDS! we need all the crowd support we can get for this...it's one of those political, whoever brings the most people wins (unless we know the band) kind of things...today's music scene is more disgusting than a 600lb. trailer trashed woman with 16 kids and armpit hair cuz she's too lazy to shave...also, i'll be playing some gigs with The Syrups (http://www.thesyrups.com) on Wed, Jan 19th at the eNd bar and then on Saturday, Jan 27 @ the Pasadena Pub. have a great month, peace out!

We have desires and missions in life.
Our circumstances are formed around these desires and missions.
Where there is a will, there is a way,
Where there is not, there is chaos, doubt, and ignorance of one's own connection to divinity.
As long as you do your thing enough to separate from other people's agendas, you will find that people, information, and circumstances will spring up seemingly out of nowhere and somehow teach, guide, and align you with a reality that encompasses your desires
-even when you don't expect it-.

The transforming of the intangible to the tangible is the process of living, it is the conception of a dream that breeds the manifest of divine reality; the way it was meant to be. Over and over again, the pieces of the puzzle shift and create new pictures. Life is a miracle; if it is anything less, then why continue to live it? If you don't believe that there's' something good here to be a part of, you find your way out by accident or deliberate, conscious movement.

Freed By Desire ...
93% Of what we say to other people comes from places other than our words.
Thoughts alone have been shown to have effects on cells outside of the body (cells - the building block of life).
In an experiment in the 70's, a group of scientists created an "entity" that was unseen but had a direct affect on the physical world, enough to hold a small object in place, when it should have moved.
These are scientific facts. Not rumors, not hearsay. You can find them for yourself. The fact is, a lot of us have things that habitually happen to us; certain situations we always seem to get in to, certain types of people that we 'always' tend to run into.

NO MISTAKES, NO REGRETS, FREED BY DESIRE

Some of the things that happen to us are out of our control - (but only) to the extent of our unawareness of the fact that we are in control. What I'm saying is, "You are in control of what happens to you" and ignorance may be bliss when it comes to some things, but if you're unhappy and thus, ignorant, about the reason why certain things happen or don't happen to you…it's time to find out what's driving your life. Are you led by fear or Freed by Desire?
So, are you thinking about all of the bad things that happened to you, all of the reasons why you can't do what you really want to do, and whose fault it is? Or are you thinking about the fact that, where there is a will, there is a way? Are you thinking about what you want and telling yourself that you can get it; so much that everyone can see it on your face, in your body language. I can't tell you all of the people that are world-renowned for doing something amazing because they used this technique to literally rewrite their destinies.
The little things that you hear the most, you tend to believe the most, and these things become truth to you, whether they are really truth or not, and thus, these things are written all over you and you communicate these things in your constant living interaction with this world and the people and things in it. These are the thoughts that effect cells, the entities that you produce, and the things that you communicate to everyone without saying a word.
The way to hold your future and your confidence in it in your mind is to create your own atmosphere, your own environment full of what you want and what you need to hear to get them (little sayings on the wall or in your notebooks [mottos, quotes], the music you listen to, just the things you say to yourself in your head, the friends that say things that inspire you) and to the degree that you desire these things, they will come to you. I know it can sound crazy at first, but I've seen really crazy good and bad coincidences happen over and over to certain people I know and have known (myself included) - enough to discover that it's no coincidence.
Fill your mind with confidence, desire, and the life you want - and in so doing, you'll push out the regrets you had, push out the mistakes you made; there's nothing more that you can do to render the past. Just throw it away, in trade for control over your future.
Now, I'm not claiming to be any kind of guru master or psychologist or anything. I'm just a guy that wants more from life. I have a huge interest in and attraction to psychology, spirituality and where they have a direct impact in my own life.
If all of this stuff seems obvious to you, then I hope it simply served as a good reminder to continue to be Freed by Desire. If you're happy about all of the people and situations in your life, rad! and I'm glad you're checking out my website.

We live in the information age. We also live in America. The possibilities for life, liberty, and the pursuit of (and for heaven's sake, the attainment of) happiness are up to us, unlimited.
Think about what you hear. Think about what you say to other people (knowing that what you say, you also will hear). Gain 'consciousness' as they say, and think about what you Desire. Once it becomes part of you, ingrained inside, in your subconscious, it begins to take shape everywhere; you'll have a midas-touch. And with each thing that happens, your confidence increases, knowing that you are, always have been, and always will be, in control.
